Theme 9 Young people
The future of Sutherland rests on its young people. In order to encourage young people to stay, return or settle in the area there must be access to facilities, services, employment and housing opportunities.
The development of recreational facilities and connecting transport will benefit everyone, young and old, local and visitor alike. While access to crofts and affordable housing is also key to encourage young people to remain in the area.
A list of actions of the Development and Action Plan gives more details of the actions identified and those being carried out.
Sutherland Youth Conference 2012
The Sutherland Partnership is currently consulting with young people in Sutherland regarding a Sutherland wide Youth Conference. This will be shaped by young people and allow them the opportunity to discuss the matters that are important to them. The Conference will allow them to discuss and develop opportunities and activities which they would like to see happen in their areas. For more information on the Conference please see the Sutherland Youth Conference 2012 page.
